The ‘Greeters made in Pas-de-Calais’ initiative was created by the Pas-de-Calais Departmental Tourism Committee. Inspired by New York’s Big Apple Greeters, the concept gives tourists the opportunity to meet a resident who shows them and tells them about ‘their’ corner or ‘their’ town, a place they are passionate about and proud of.
Pas-de-Calais is a French department named after the Strait of Dover, known in French as the Pas de Calais, which separates it from England. The department’s prefecture is Arras. Wikipedia overview

Thanks to the quality of our Greeter’s commentary and excellent knowledge of the city, I discovered a place whose architectural richness I had never realised, even though I live only a few kilometres away.
The Greet was the highlight of our stay. Our Greeter, Georges, was very knowledgeable and interesting. We had the chance to ask questions we had never dared to ask… We believe we now understand the city and the French way of life better. This is an experience we will certainly try again in another part of the world. Thank you.
It was a most wonderful day. I learned so much about the area and got to see a fantastic Japanese garden, a splendid array of architectural gems and, most of all, received suggestions for return visits to the area. Das is a national treasure!
