As Jules Verne wrote to one of his friends: “At my wife’s wish, I am settling in Amiens, a wise, polite city of even temper. One is close enough to Paris to catch its reflection, without the unbearable noise and sterile agitation.”
Nicknamed the “Little Venice of the North” because of the many canals that run through it and the hortillonnages, Amiens offers a rich heritage and picturesque neighborhoods, witnesses to a two-thousand-year history.

We simply invite you to experience the more everyday side of our city, with its markets, its shopping center, its bistros… We are Amiens volunteers, members of the France Greeters Federation. We want to introduce “our Amiens” to visitors, just as we would for friends. We are neither guide-interpreters nor certified lecturers, but curious residents, passionate about the riches of our city, who speak several languages, and want to meet and welcome people from outside Amiens, the region or France. During the walk, the “greeter” will stroll with you through the streets of a neighborhood they love for its rich past, its architecture, its markets, its cafés, its artisans or its artists… They will share their experiences and anecdotes with you; point out their favorite spots; and of course be happy to answer your questions to help you better understand the city and its surroundings. Moments that, we hope, will remain unforgettable for you.
